Kiara's Surgery

Well as most people know Kiara had a hernia....so we had to go to St. Lukes Hospital to have surgery. I forgot to take pictures when we got there..but hey..I did remember the camera!
This is after we got into the pre-op room. Grandma Jeffs was there with us helping kiara get settled in. Grandma Yearsley and Aunt Kari were at my house..taking care of the kids and house inspector. Here is Kiara in here bed ready for what is to come....she is being soooooo silly! This is Kiara's Teddy bear given to her at the hospital....Grandma Yearsley said daddy had one given to him just like it (only blue) when he went to St. Lukes when he was little....I think that made Kiara love it a little more!
As we sat in the pre-op room a lot of different people came by...nurses, doctors, anesthesiologists, etc. This is Kiara's mask for her"sleeping air" She needed to try it on!...looks like a good fit!

A nurse came in and brought stickers with her to decorate and personalize the breathing mask! This really helped Kiara with any fears of the mask! She was just a little peeved that I asked her to look at the camera instead of the stickers!

Kiara's face after the "nasty" medicine.....this would be the kid version of Valium!...Kiara didn't care much about anything for long!

Grandma Yearsley got to the hospital before Kiara went into surgery...Kiara was so happy to see her!

After an hour and 15 minuets we were taken to the recovery room to sit with Kiara...this is her...The attendant in her room said she was awake....but she looked asleep to us!

This is Kiara trying to smile at Grandma....but she was not happy! She woke up with a lot of pain! First she was irritated with the oxygen counter on her finger so the nurse put it on her ear...she didn't really like that either...
but I had to take a picture because when do you see an oxygen thing on an ear? Kiara began to really cry after this...her pain was too much for her so the nurse doped her up again and things got better. I wanted to hold her soooo bad and just rock her...I offered but she wanted grandma yearsley...so we set her onto grandmas lap...who was in a rocking chair...and they rocked but Kiara didn't get much better......not till the drugs got to her system....so we put here back in bed...they put the oxygen thing on her toe and life got better.

Kiara...with Popsicles and cartoons...doped to the hilt.....that is a thumbs up people!!!

Okay so I tried to flip this pic but...its just staying upside down...this is Kiara's incision...not too big for all that pain! Well Kiara is doing good enough it is time to go home. Grandma Jeffs got her her favorite clown balloon and Grandma Yearsley brought her some comfy PJs! Time to get unattached from all this stuff!!!

I.V.s got to go....have you ever seen an IV in the ankle before? Kiara was so into cartoons and on the meds that she barley noticed them taking out the IV! or the oxygen counter from her toe.

Here is my girl....no wheel chairs for her...warm blankets from the dryer and her blue monkey blanket...a few pillows and the wagon......"Don't forget my balloon mom!" Ahhhh the ride of queens!

This is Kiara back at home.....all in all a pretty quick day ....it went well. Kiara did throw up once at home...but is keeping things down now and playing video games and watching movies. Sill needs help getting to the bathroom as she doesn't quite feel like standing strait yet. All the other children are at Grandma Yearsley's with Kari too. They are keeping the kids over night so I can just be with Kiara....My family is so wonderful....my mom was such great help today I know I could not do today alone...I just didn't realize how bad off I would have been until Kiara started to be in pain...I just cried... kandee and my mother helped me get through my own mess and never let Kiara see her mommy fall apart. With the surgery over I feel a weight lifted from me!

And now Kiara doesn't have to keep sticking her hand in her pants to "push in the hernia!"
